I absolutely love the look of a gallery wall and have been wanting to create something like this in our apartment. Of course, watching plenty of HGTV for inspiration helps also. Unfortunately, we don’t have a big, grand staircase or a huge focal wall but we do have little nooks that could use some sprucing up. I love the look of an eclectic gallery wall, with different size frames and even other objects. Yet the clean simplicity of a sleek montage of one size frame is also appealing.
Aside from picking the type of gallery wall I’d like to recreate, the hardest thing for me is also choosing what to frame: personal photos, postcards, art and typography are all good options. Since we live in a rental sometimes I don’t even think it’s worth it to put that much thought into decorating, but then again we’ll be living here for at least several months so why not? It’d make it feel so much more homey and ours.
Do you put a lot of thought into decorating if you live in a rental? And have you done a gallery wall? I’d love to hear your thoughts and advice.

April 16, 2013 at 6:32 amWe made a gallery wall! We used all the same size frames purchased from IKEA (best place for affordable frames)and every few months we rotate pictures of family, friends and travel. I have a whole post about it if you're interested. Good luck 🙂

April 16, 2013 at 11:28 amI have a small one that I am still building. I posted about it back in January. http://magsmind22.blogspot.com/2013/01/photo-wall.html
I chose different frames that I could continue to add to as I found photos and frames I wanted to add. I framed photos from travels and friends and family. It's a bit of a mix but it's everything I love.
Also, I have struggled with putting too much energy into apartment's also until I realized they would be my homes for a while to come lol. And then I said I need to put more effort into decorating. And it's actually really fun once you get into it.

April 16, 2013 at 11:06 pmyay thank you ladies!! and thank you for your informative posts! I actually have a few Ikea frames already and love them so I wouldn't be against buying more! and thanks for the ideas about what to frame, i feel like Pinterest creates this high bar and I worry if I'm not "artsy" or "cool" enough with how my project turns out lol now it's just a matter of putting my ideas into action and making it happen!!

April 22, 2013 at 10:52 pmI agree! Pinterest has added another complex to my already ridiculous need for perfection. It's evil, yet I love it so much!!!
