Growing up, I always had a passion for reading. Majoring in print journalism and becoming a writer was a natural progression and it’s no surprise that I have a soft spot for the printed word.
While websites and blogs have exploded in popularity over the last few years, there is still a certain quality that you can only find in print.
I remember when my first article was published in a magazine and how amazing it felt to see my name on that glossy page. It’s a feeling I’ll never forget. Nowadays, with our online identities spread out across the web it’s easy to forget the tangible reality of print. Though I have a long list of websites I visit daily, I still love to read print magazines. Unfortunately, I find it’s getting harder and harder to set time aside to do so. Reading online seems so quick easy, a free moment here on your phone or leisurely reading at the computer.
I’ve decided to make the time to enjoy one of my favorite activities: reading through well-edited magazines with thought-provoking content, great graphics and layouts and that indefinable quality that keeps you coming back for more.
Though I realize the online world has many benefits and will continue to expand, I remain nostalgic for the days when things were much simpler. For me, reading print magazines will always be the ultimate pastime and I’ll continue to support the magazine industry by picking up a copy and experiencing it the best way I know how.
