Companies to help you hack your IKEA furniture in style

As a renter, my home decor options are pretty limited. Without the possibility to paint, tear down or replace everything I would like to in my apartment, I’ve been turning to more short-term solutions that are still stylish. Like millions of others, I own quite a bit of IKEA furniture. What can I say it’s convenient and affordable and also looks good. But after a few years of my typical IKEA pieces, I’m now itching to make a change (albeit on a budget.) I’ve been scouring the web for some solutions of how to best revamp in the time-honored tradition of an IKEA hack. Though I personally love DIY projects, my husband is less than enthusiastic luckily I’ve found some companies that make it easier than ever to breathe new life into your old IKEA pieces.

Superfront

SuperfrontI found Superfront while scrolling through endless hacks on Pinterest and boy am I glad I stumbled upon them. This Swedish company makes super cool (get it?! ha) accessories to amp up the style factor on your typical IKEA pieces. The company designs and manufactures fronts, handles, legs, sides and tops that fit some of Ikea’s most common cabinets including Pax wardrobes, Metod and Faktum kitchens, and Bestå sideboards and cabinets.

Panyl

I actually ordered a few samples in order to update my tired Malm dressers and I can’t wait to try them out. They have a variety of finishes and colors with everything from wood tones to metallics and are a quick, easy way to update everything from bookcases to beds and more.

O’verlays

Another way to add some major style points to your simple IKEA pieces is with O’verlays. O’verlays are decorative fretwork panels that come in several patterns and sizes and are compatible with a variety of IKEA furniture pieces. The part that makes them DIY friendly is that fact that they are light weight, paintable and can attach to the furniture without a hammer!

Mykea

mykea-ikea-hackAnd last but not least, Mykea is a company that creates unique vinyl stickers to really kick your IKEA furniture up a notch! They’re graphic and bold and removable! So if down the road you want to swap it out for something else, it’s as easy as peeling off the vinyl and starting again. Their site is full of interesting and one-of-a-kind designs (that they’re constantly adding to) that will instantly transform your IKEA goods.

So there you have it folks, 5 companies to help you instantly add some pizzaz back into your dated furnishings without a ton of effort. For the DIY-challenged or simply those that don’t have the time/energy/equipment etc to tackle such projects, these companies are a great solution to beautify your home.
