The postpartum period is unique for every woman, but one thing that I think we can all agree on is that getting “dressed up” is much easier said than done. You’re exhausted from taking care of a new tiny person in your life and the thought of putting more effort into your appearance than a pair of comfy sweats is just too much to bear. (At least it was for me for the first several weeks!)
In addition, unless you’re a celebrity or a fitness trainer, chances are your postpartum body won’t resemble the body that you were used to pre-baby. Of course, every woman is different and all bounce back at different rates but I’ve always been a believer in the saying that since it takes 9+ months to make a baby, it should take 9+ months to “get your body back.” (I use that in quotes because lets be honest, things will never be exactly the same and there is no problem with that.)
My daughter is just about 8 months and let me tell you, I am nowhere near my pre-baby weight. I’m not stressing about it though and instead relishing this time with my daughter. However, especially around the holidays there are many family/work events to attend and looking put together is one of the requirements.
